“Series of Teaching Foreigners Chinese Grammar” is
the achievement of “Research and Development of Grammar Syllabus for
Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and Teaching Reference Grammar Series
(Multi-volume)”, a major project of National Social Science Fund of China
sponsored by Professor Qi Huyang, which has been selected as the “2022 Founding
Project of National Publication Foundation”. As an important reference book for
international Chinese language education, it aims to build and improve the
“Grammar System of Chinese Teaching” for foreign students to meet the
development needs of the new era. It mainly serves the first-line Chinese
teachers, researchers, graduate students and undergraduates majoring in
Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. This series consists of 39
volumes, including 4 outline series, 26 book series, 8 summary series, and 1
collection of essays.
This book is a fascicule of the third
edition in the series.
From
the perspectives of grammatical knowledge, grammatical acquisition, and grammar
teaching, this book analyzes and explores the syntactic, semantic, and
pragmatic features of the auxiliary word “zhe”. In terms of grammatical
knowledge, the book mainly elaborates on the nature, syntactic distribution,
grammatical meaning, and pragmatic functions of the auxiliary word “zhe”.
Regarding grammatical acquisition, it primarily adopts the perspective of
Chinese-foreign contrastive analysis to identify the characteristic
corresponding relationships between the auxiliary word “zhe” and its equivalent
forms in other languages, and analyzes the causes of errors based on the error
phenomena among international students. In the aspect of grammar teaching, it
mainly examines the teaching content related to the auxiliary word “zhe” in
textbooks and exercise questions, and provides teaching designs according to
the commonly used sentence patterns of the auxiliary word “zhe”.
Hu
Jianfeng has a PhD in Linguistics and Applied
Linguistics of Shanghai Normal University and is an associate professor at the
International College of Chinese Studies, Shanghai Normal University. His
research focuses on text linguistics and pragmatics. Pro. Hu has published more
than 30 papers in professional journals such as Chinese Teaching in the World,
Language Teaching and Linguistic Studies and Linguistic Sciences, presided over
a number of national and provincial social science projects, and published two
monographs.
Cui Weizhen,
the Author, is a PhD in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics of Shanghai Normal
University and an associate professor at the School of Education of Sanda
University, whose research mainly focuses on modern Chinese grammar and Chinese
second language acquisition. She has published more than ten papers in core
journals such as Language Teaching and Linguistic Studies, and has
independently (or collaboratively) published three monographs (or textbooks).
1. Multidimensional Analysis of
Linguistic Points: Based on the grammar syllabus
for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, this book analyzes and explains the
syntactic and semantic features of the auxiliary word “zhe” from the
perspectives of structure, semantics, and pragmatics. It strives to ensure
concise syntactic structures, clear sentence semantics, and engaging pragmatic
functions.
2. High Frequency of Syntactic
Structure Selection: Using the BCC Corpus as a
basis, the book conducts statistical analysis on the occurrence frequency of
the syntactic structures of the auxiliary word “zhe”. It also describes in
detail the structural, semantic, and pragmatic characteristics of each sentence
pattern according to the semantic features of verbs, facilitating the teaching
and learning of the syntactic structures of the auxiliary word “zhe”.
3. Practicality of Teaching Designs: Teaching designs are
developed around the commonly used sentence patterns of the auxiliary word “zhe”.
The selected corpus and scenarios related to the auxiliary word “zhe” are
typical and authentic, and the teaching designs for commonly used sentence
patterns are as close to real life as possible. In line with concepts such as “stratification
and grading”, the teaching of the commonly used sentence patterns of the
auxiliary word “zhe” is expanded, while ensuring the recurrence rate to
guarantee a progressive acquisition process.
